Das EFFEKTE Wissenschaftsfestival findet in diesem Jahr, anders als sonst, über mehrere Monate statt. Beim Wissenschaftsdienstag im November konnte auch ich Teil des Ganzen sein! Es ging dabei um die Veränderungen, die Hochschulen zur Zeit durch die Corona-Einschränkungen erfahren und um den Einfluss, den das auf die Zukunft der Hochschulbildung haben wird. Ich sprach dabei auch über die Future Skills, mit denen ich mich in meiner Forschungsgruppe NextEducation beschäftige.

<<ENGLISH>> After the entire academic world had to find a new orientation since the beginning of 2020, the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung also took a new direction this year with the University:Future Festival. The entire festival took place over several days in digital form.
The overall subject was the question of the new everyday life at institutions of higher education for students and teachers, who shared their experiences with different key topics.
We were also present with our podcast projects “Studium im Shutdown” and “Next Normal“. Afterwards we had the opportunity to talk to various speakers of the festival and ask concrete questions about their ideas of the future for universities and to find out what, in their opinion, the chances and potentials for the ‘Next Normal’ of universities are.
We spoke with Mark Brown (Dublin City University), Jan-Martin Wiarda (Journalist for Education and Science), Christien Bok (Manager of Educational Innovation at SURF), Leonie Ackermann (#DigitalChangeMaker), Thies Johannsen (TU Berlin) and Barbara Wagner (HFD, Stifterverband).

<<Deutsch>> Nachdem sich die gesamte Hochschulwelt seit Beginn des Jahres 2020 neu orientieren musste, ging auch das Hochschulforum Digitalisierung mit dem University:Future Festival in diesem Jahr neue Wege. Das gesamte Festival fand über mehrere Tage in digitaler Form statt. Thema des Ganzen war die Frage nach dem neuen Alltag an Hochschulen für Studierende und Lehrende, die mit verschiedenen Themenschwerpunkten ihre Erfahrungen teilten.
Auch wir, die NextEducation Arbeitsgruppe, konnten unsere Arbeit vorstellen und insbesondere die Grand Challenge 2020, die ein großartiges Event im Rahmen unserer Lehrveranstaltungen darstellte!
Außerdem waren wir mit unseren Podcastprojekten „Studium im Shutdown“ und „Next Normal“ dabei und hatten die Möglichkeit mit verschiedenen Speaker*innen des Festivals zu sprechen und konkrete Fragen zu deren Vorstellungen der Zukunft für Hochschulen zu stellen und zu erfahren was aus ihrer Sicht die Chancen und Potenziale für das ‚Next Normal‘ der Hochschulen sind. <<ENGLISH>> Of course, we are currently dealing with digital teaching methods more than usual, however, the question remains how we can continue to include digital media in our curriculum after the online semesters – successfully!
Digital media offer entirely new opportunities in higher education and can thus contribute to a new learning culture, but how will this ultimately look and work? This is what the Digital Workspace at the TU Dresden is all about. It aims to answer the question of what successful digitally supported teaching actually looks like and what criteria are used to measure the success of these teaching methods. On the basis of these evaluation criteria, concepts for digital courses will then be developed in collaboration with the participants.

<<DEUTSCH>> Mit digitalen Lehrmethoden befassen wir uns aktuell natürlich mehr als sonst, dennoch bleibt die Frage, wie wir die digitalen Medien auch nach den Online-Semestern weiter in unseren Lehrplan aufnehmen können – und das erfolgreich!
Die digitalen Medien eröffnen ganz neue Möglichkeiten in der Hochschulbildung und können so zu einer neuen Lernkultur beitragen, aber wie soll das am Ende aussehen und funktionieren? Darum geht es im Digital Workspace der TU Dresden. Es soll die Frage beantwortet werden, wie erfolgreiche digital gestützte Lehre überhaupt aussieht und an welchen Kriterien der Erfolg dieser Lehrmethoden festzumachen ist. Anhand dieser Evaluationskriterien sollen anschließend – gemeinsam mit den Teilnehmenden – Konzepte für digitale Lehrangebote erarbeitet werden.

<<ENGLISH>> In the past semester, the institutions of higher education had to develop entirely new educational paths, which still have to be preserved. Of course, online teaching should also provide students with the same content and skills and also prepare them for the working world of the future, which (proven by the corona pandemic) is under constant change and uncertainty.
FIBAA is an agency for quality assurance, which will focus on the qualities of distance learning in higher education at a workshop next week, and to which I was invited as a speaker.

<<DEUTSCH>> Die Hochschulen haben in dem vergangenen Semester ganz neue Bildungswege erarbeiten müssen, die auch weiterhin aufrecht erhalten werden müssen. Natürlich sollen die Studierenden aber auch durch die Online-Lehre dieselben Inhalte und Kompetenzen vermittelt bekommen und außerdem auf die Arbeitswelt der Zukunft vorbereitet werden, die (durch die Corona-Pandemie ja absolut bewiesen) unter stetigem Wandel und Unsicherheiten steht.
Die FIBAA ist eine Agentur der Qualitätssicherung, die sich bei einem Workshop in der nächsten Woche besonders mit den Qualitäten des Distance Learning in Hochschulen befasst und wozu ich als Referent eingeladen wurde.

<<ENGLISH>> Next week there will be a digital event organised by EDEN, which will focus on teaching and learning online and with physical distance.
Next Monday, there will be a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of online teaching, comparing the new teaching methods developed in 2020 under the constraints of the corona pandemic with traditional face-to-face educational models. I personally comment on the debate as an “expert commentator”.

<<DEUTSCH>> Nächste Woche findet eine von EDEN organisierte digitale Veranstaltung statt, bei der es um das Lehren und Lernen online und mit räumlicher Distanz gehen soll.
Am kommenden Montag gibt es dazu eine Diskussion, die sich mit den Vor- und Nachteilen von Online Lehre auseinandersetzt und die neuen Lehrmethoden, die in diesem Jahr 2020 unter den Einschränkungen der Corona-Pandemie entwickelt wurden, in den direkten Vergleich mit den traditionellen Face-to-Face Bildungsmodellen stellt. Ich selbst kommentiere die Debatte dabei als “Expert Commentator”.

<<ENGLISH>> In this special year the science festival EFFEKTE will run over several months, from July to December, completely digital. On the upcoming Science Tuesday, it will focus on the changes that our current situation at universities and the future of education is now experiencing. The new skills that we will need to be able to successfully continue learning and teaching belong to my area of expertise, because these are exactly the Future Skills that I am dealing with in my research group NextEducation.
Next Tuesday, I will outline what the university of the future can look like and how students will find their way around in the future!
